White Lies
Chapter 3

"Bob?"

"Mouse? Leave me alone."

Mouse couldn't bear to have Bob looking so upset. She would do anything to make him happy again, then her inner voice spoke up and reminded her of her goal again.

"Oh Bob! I'm really truly sorry I messed things up between you and Dot! I didn't know, and I guess you could say that I was...jealous of your relationship, and I didn't want to give you up, so I rationally jumped to conclusions. I'm sorry Bob. Do you forgive me?" Mouse waited a moment but Bob didn't answer. "Bob? Are you listening? Can you hear me?"

"Yeah I can hear you. That's a pretty speech. Did it take you long to rehearse?" Bob didn't like to come off snide but he was hurt and he wasn't thinking straight.

"Bob! I was only speaking from the sorrow that's pierced my heart!" that one might have come off a little too rehearsed.

"Please Mouse, just leave me alone before I say something we'll both regret.

Always the responsible one. That's one of the many things I've always loved about you, Bob. Mouse wasn't sure what to say but her inner self seemed to take over.

"Please Bob. I mean you no harm, I just want to help."

"You mean help your guilty conscience feel better!"

"Bob..."

"Just go away!"

"But..."

"GO AWAY!!"

Bob's loud outburst caught Mouse off guard, and a few startled tears rolled down her cheek. I've never seen him this mad or even yell like that. Mouse quickly wiped away the scarce tears and prepared to say something, but turned around and started to walk away instead.

"Mouse! Wait!" Mouse paused for a moment, then slowly turned around.

"Yes Bob?"

"I'm ... I'm sorry. You did something really rotten and I know that you're sorry, but I still shouldn't have yelled at you like that. You were just trying to apologize. Please forgive me, Mouse. I had no right to behave like that towards you."

"Is this your protocol talking, or is it really you sugar?"

"Mouse."

"Aw Bob! You now I could never really stay mad at you!" Mouse flew into Bob's arms to give him a giant hug.

"Bob? Are you there? *gasp* I should have known! How could you Bob!" Bob and Mouse looked up from their hug, only to see Dot’'s face glaring them in the face from a vidwindow.

"Dot!" Bob shrugged off Mouse and faced Dot. "It's not what it looks like! You have to believe me!"

"I don't know what to believe Bob."

"Dot! Please ..."

"No Bob. I need time to think." And with those last words, Dot hung up on Bob.

"Oh Bob! I'm so sorry! It's all my fault!"

"Not now Mouse. I need to clear my head; find Dot."

"I don't think that's such a good idea right now."

"What? Why not?"

"It's just that Dot seemed kinda mad, so I think you should let her cool off a bit first. You don't want to get into an argument and ruin your relationship even more, now do you?"

"I suppose you're right."

"I know I am, sweetie."

"What now? Do you want to watch some TV?"

"Yeah! That'd be great!" So Mouse and Bob slipped onto his couch to watch something un-educational that would rot their brain. Bob was still frustrated, depressed, and slightly angry, so he couldn't pay attention to anything but his own little dreamworld. Mouse was ecstatic that her "plan" was going to well. Especially since she decided to cuddle up next to Bob and slip his arm around her, and he didn't do a thing.

"So was Mouse right? Was Bob cheating on you? Miss matrix? Is everything alright?"

"No Cecil. Everything is not all right! When I called, Bob and Mouse were in some sort of embrace! I was right all along! But she's already moved in on him, so he's no longer mine!" Cecil handed Dot a napkin to dry her tears with.

"What makes you say such a basic thing!"

"If Bob really did care about me, he would've called by now!"

"But didn't you turn your communicator off?"

"Yeah, but he could've come down to the diner looking for me!"

"But how does he know you're here?"

"If Bob loved me, he'd know! But he's obviously too enraptured by Mouse, that little two-faced rat!"

"Dot. Listen to what you are saying! You could drive a crazy binome nuts!"

"Cecil! I thought you were supposed to be cheering me up! Not making me feel worse!"

"I am sorry Miss Matrix. But I must get back to my work. Someone has to run the diner if not you." Dot heaved a deflated sigh as she watched Cecil go back to the kitchen.

"Maybe I just need to take my mind off things for a while. Have a little fun. Then I'll feel better. Yeah. That's all I need...I hope." Dot got up and decided to take a small vacation. To where she had yet to decide, but she hurried to her apartment, just in case Bob had left a message.

"Enzo my child. What are all these binomes doing here?" Phong looked around in amazement at the dozens of binomes that littered his hallways.

"Oh! That. Dot told me to send everyone who didn't believe that Bob wasn't cheating on her to the principal office. There were more people then I expected!"

"Oh...And what are they to do now?"

"Um...I dunno Phong. Dot just said to send them here."

"*sigh* very well my child, but see to it that they touch nothing." Phong wandered back to his office and tried again to contact Bob. After another failed attempt, Phong heard a small squeaking sound coming from the corner of his office. "Is somebody there? Hello?"

Phong took a few tentative steps towards the corner, and saw a blue null come flying from there. He gave a small chuckle and reached out to pick it up. At the last moment he stepped back and thought to himself; Something is not right here. Where did this null come from? And why does it just wait there instead of fleeing like most do. No. Something is definitely wrong. I should catch this null and show him to Bob. At that same moment that Phong thought of Bob, the null started to shriek very loud and slithered straight out of the Principal Office.

"Hmm...Where is Bob when you need him? Or Dot...Bob...Dot...Enzo! Did you say Bob cheated on Dot!?"

"Surfr! I should have known you'd make a move on my girl the second my back was turned! Why did I ever trust you!"

"Matrix! It's not what it looks like!"

"Say your prayers Surfr!"

"Enzo! Calm down!"

"Stay out of this AndrAIa!"

"Sorry about this, love. But I have to dash!" At that moment, Ray tapped his icon and dissolved into his surfboard just as Matrix fired a bullet at his head, nearly missing AndrAIa.

"Ahh! Enzo! Watch what you're doing!"

"Surfr! Come back here and fight like a man!"

"Not bloody likely! What with you and that gun!" And with those last words, the Surfboard flew out of the building and away from Matrix.

"Enzo!"

"Not now AndrAIa, I have a Surfr to kill!"

"No! Enzo! Stop this instance and listen to me!"

"You're taking his side over mine!!"

"I'm not taking any sides!"

"I can't believe this! My own girlfriend is cheating on me, just like Bob is with my sister!"

"What! Bob cheated on Dot!?"

"Just like you! I guess the Matrix' are just doomed for heartbreak!"

"Matrix! Just calm down and let me explain what --"

"Matrix? You never call me Matrix."

"Sure I do, Matrix."

"No. You always call me Enzo! Always!"

"Enzo, please! The neighbors are starting to stare!"

"So you're more concerned with the neighbors then about us!"

"No!"

"Yeah, you are! What has that Surfr done to you!? He's poisoned your mind against me! I'll kill him!"

"No! Stop this Enzo! Relax and think about what you're saying! Please! For my sake!"

Enzo glared at AndrAIa, but gave a deflated sigh. He knew she was right, but he couldn't help being jealous.

"AndrAIa...I'm sorry, but I don't want to lose you. Especially to that...Surfr!"

"Enzo, you won't lose me. I love you. You should know that."

"I ... I know, but what were you doing kissing Ray!" AndrAIa blushed and was unsure what to say. Matrix took this the wrong way and assumed that her silence was a confession to her betrayal. "So. You do love him! And yet you claim to love me also!"

"Matrix!"

"Get out of my site."

"Enzo, please."

"Now!"

"Enzo!"

"NOW!!"

"Fine! Be like that! See if I care!" And with those words AndrAIa pushed Matrix out into the hallway and slammed the door in his face.
